JOB SUMMARY Locate private utilities on all Div 20 & 30 projects to ensure the site is safe to dig. Will mark, document & report any underground hazards to the job’s Project Manager. Responsible for installing site signs and meeting with customers to ensure the site is prepared according to contract documents, along with staking sites to be ready for the crew to dig upon arrival. Actively collaborates with PM team in planning of high complexity jobs through attending pre-construction planning meetings and going out to specific jobs to assist in attaining pre-construction pictures and site/existing building measurements. Use construction experience to aid in high complexity projects at a surgeon level on site to guide/coach/mentor the active crew while documenting learnings and assisting in populating crew install manuals & QPS process. Be a resource that the Inside Sales & Project Management team can leverage for warranty inspections. Perform random, active construction jobsite visits as a construction quality and safety auditor.
Private Locates/Install Site Sign/Stake Site
Schedule and perform private locates on all Div 20 and Div 30 projects.
Must be trained in private locate practices to ensure the jobsite is safe for the crew to dig and drive stakes.
Must have excellent communication skills and use said skills to meet with customers and understand building placement needs, discuss & give feedback to sales, and communicate special site needs to Project manager & Dispatcher. (such as, but not limited to equipment needs, safety risks, etc…).
Must be able to confront customers on sites that are not prepared according to the construction zone plan, giving advice and holding accountable.
Must be a safety Champion for others around them and have an experienced and detailed eye for spotting potential safety risks and then report them back to the Project Manager.
Must have a valid driver’s license and the physical ability to install Large (4’x8’) site signs and Small (2’x3’) site signs.
Must be willing to drive +2 hours from home daily and willing to work long hours to ensure the safety of others.
Must give detailed reporting back to Project Management team on all site findings.
Leverage technology that is provided and required (such as but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google Earth, I-Auditor, FBi Hub, Customer Relationship Manager Systems – CRM, etc…)
Construction Consultation and Collaboration to drive job profitability
Must join in on complex pre-construction meetings and help the team maximize the construction plan.
Will go out to specific jobs as needed to help (as a consultant) the foreman navigate challenging construction details in a preemptive approach to quality.
Will be a contact/coach that Design & MTO teams can pull on to understand complex details and intersecting points on specific jobs.
Must be able to leverage technology to provide information to the team while on the road. (i.e.: drawing redlines, detailed emails/sketches, conference calls, etc…)

To ensure that Design/MTO have set the crew up to win.

To ensure that our customers are not our quality control officer.
To ensure that our Project Management team has/is protecting the customer, the crew, and maximizing job profitability.
Must have an eye for safety as well as quality to document improvement ideas via pictures then report back to Director of Project Management.
Will assist in providing content to crew install manuals.
Will be available to Inside Sales Warranty Specialist and Repair Renovation Project Manager as a resource to inspect warranty issues.
Inspect, photograph/video record issues, then report back to team directly
Inspector’s diagnosis/opinion will not be shared with the customer, but rather documented and given to the inside team to combine with other data points prior to customer presentation.
Must have a safety-first mindset when on sites performing inspections. (This may mean that a drone should be used for elevated pictures or your may have to bring someone with you to hold your ladder, etc…). Safety cannot be overlooked for any reason.
Ability to read, interpret and improve sold contracts, construction drawings, and specifications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Job will start daily at the main office. Private locate/site sign installation/site stake/site check will be organized and performed 2 or 3 days per week depending on need. Employee must be flexible and available to perform safety site checks with less than 2 hours’ notice. The other 2 to 3 days will be filled with building inspections, coaching foremen on high complexity issues, pre-job collaboration, and process enhancement assistance. Employee can spend several hours on site in extreme weather and then end up working the rest of the day in climate-controlled office.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This position is full time with some evening collaboration calls and weekend work.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or at least 5 years of experience in the post frame field construction.
Experience as Foreman or Lead-man in the field for at least 2 years is ideal.
