Opportunity to join young general contracting organization and take lead in developing and growing Summit Livestock Facilities, an FBi Buildings sister company. Looking for an estimator who will help promote the development of creative solutions to construction challenges and drive competitive costs for our customers.
Projects to Include: Nationwide large scale turn-key green-field livestock complexes, agricultural food processing and handling facilities, commercial agricultural projects, single-building farm shops and livestock buildings. Project scopes may include earthwork, storm water, exterior utilities, foundation, superstructure, MEPs, interior build-outs, or equipment installations.
Core Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate and perform pre-construction estimating tasks working with current & potential clients, sub-consultants, sub-contractors and in-house engineering resources for assigned projects. Duties to include:
Prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detail estimates for projects of varying size and complexity
May include cost, material, and labor dynamics * Analyze drawings and perform or delegate material take-off for detailed estimates
Utilize preferred estimating system on all budgets and estimates.
Hand-off estimate and preferred/pre-defined sub-contractors to Project Management Team for Final Buy-Outs
Work with Sub-Consultants and Sub-Contractors to find Value Engineering Options
Have a working knowledge of material unit costs, systems square foot costs and total building square foot costs.
Work closely with the Project Management and Project Development teams, and collaborate as needed to procure pricing from sub-contractors and develop quality field cost data
Research and recruit new sub-contractors as required for design-build applications, and value engineering to drive competitive buy-outs and strategically align with Project Management team on sub-contractor qualifications
Assist with contract documents
Manage cost documents from budgetary estimate to final contract * Visit projects before, during and after construction.
Coordinate and oversee the delegated responsibilities of others on the project team in the preparation of the estimates and budgets.
Research and compile historical cost data and keep database current for use in future estimate preparation
Keep current on changes and trends in methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wage rates, fringes and working rules.
Participate in design progress meetings and client presentations as required.
Occasional Hard Bid
Must have very good written and communication skills.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Four-year degree in an accredited construction related curriculum and five years experience in estimating, design related activities, project management, or construction management.
Alternatively, 8 years of experience in estimating, design related activities or project management. Experienced with design-build, engineer/procure/construct, construction management, and hard bid projects.
Experienced in the use of computer-based estimating systems and competent in the use of recognized electronic spreadsheets, and word processing. Ability to gain a good working knowledge of estimating software and basic use of CAD or Revit.
