Rigg's Mowers Moves To New, Larger Facility In January LaPorte, Ind. December 2, 2002 Rigg’s Mowers and More will nearly triple the size of its LaPorte facility in January when the business moves one block south to 108 East Shore Court, just off State Road 39. FBi Buildings of Remington is now completing construction on the 13,000-square-foot retail show room, service center and office it custom-designed for Rigg’s. “The building has some unique and striking features, including a 30-foot tower at its entry, stone front, red roof and a wrap-around porch,” said Joel Westfall, FBi project sales consultant. “It’s an inviting design.” That’s exactly the message owner Tom Rigg hopes the building will convey. “Now that we won’t be right on 39, I want to be sure we’re well seen and people know we’re open and friendly.” The new building is behind the Holiday Inn Express. “We also will have lots more parking,” Rigg said. He founded the business in 1981 in Valparaiso, where he still operates. The LaPorte facility, managed by long-time resident Pete Hill, opened in 1999. Rigg’s Mowers and More sells and services outdoor power equipment, including snow blowers, lawnmowers and compact tractors. It’s a dealer for Cub Cadet, Simplicity, Toro, Dixie Chopper, Exmark and others. The LaPorte site also serves as a major service center for northern Indiana, working directly with consumers as well as retailers such as Menards, Home Depot and others. The business employs 28 in LaPorte and Valparaiso combined. Headquartered in Remington, Ind., with regional offices in Indianapolis and Chicago, FBi Buildings was founded in 1958 and today ranks among the Midwest’s top design/build firms. Its 290 employees include architects, engineers, construction professionals and support personnel. FBi has constructed more than 15,000 commercial, industrial, office, church and retail buildings in Indiana and Illinois. |
