Local Companies Win Quality Awards

Indianapolis, Ind. November 18-24, 2002 A Textron Fastening Systems plant in Greensburg received this year’s top BKD Indiana Quality Improvement Award.
The plant began to improve quality five years ago. The company conducted workshops and pursued certain certifications. As a result, the rate of scrap was cut in half, costs are down, efficiency is up and absenteeism decreased dramatically.
The awards, presented by accounting firm BKD LLP, Indiana Business Magazine, Baker & Daniels and KeyBank, honor Indiana organizations that show a commitment to quality and show improvements in efficient business practices. Gold, silver and bronze winners also were announced in five industry categories:
