January 8, 2004 Horse Care Clinic Jan. 24 in Lebanon January 8, 2004 -- Horse owners and those interested in horses are invited to attend the all-day “Developing a Horse Care Plan” clinic at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Lebanon, Ind., on Saturday, January 24. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.; the clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $20, which covers all materials, lunch and testing of a horse fecal sample. Speakers include Brad Cook, project sales consultant for Remington-based FBi Buildings Inc., discussing equine facilities design. “I’ll talk about budget, permits, site development, air quality, lighting design and points to consider when choosing a builder,” Cook said. “Providing the right building for horses has everything to do with proper care.” Sara Davis, equine specialist for ADM Alliance Nutrition, will speak on nutrition. “The whole purpose of the program is education of horse owners,” she said. “The focus will be on the care of the horse, from teeth through digestion, de-worming, housing and disaster preparednesswhat to do if you truck breaks down while you’re on the road with your horse in the trailer or what to do if you have a fire.” Other speakers are Mark Perry, Cisco-Pasture Perfect; Jeff Leininger, Intervet; Mark Russell, Purdue University; a representative of Indiana Trail Riders and area veterinarians.
