FBi Buildings Wins Two Top Awards

June 6, 2001 -- FBi Buildings Inc., a leading Midwestern design/build firm which has constructed numerous area buildings, won two of just 14 Building of the Year Awards recently given by the National Frame Builders Association.

FBi took the top prize in the unique commercial building category for the Tile Works & More facility in Manteno, Ill., owned by Randy and Mary Blanchette. In this building, FBi added visual interest with hips and valleys while creating functional interior space for the carpet and tile store, said Miles Ridgeway, an FBi director of project development.

FBi also won the highest award in the category for commercial buildings under 5,000 square feet, for the Ground Effects Landscaping facility. The nursery, garden center and landscaping business in Hobart, Ind., is owned by Gregg and Amy Halaburt. The building’s striking tower and hipped front porch at the entrance contribute to the distinctive design and helped the builder compete for the award, said Brad Eisenmann, an FBi director of project development.

Founded in 1958, FBi Buildings, headquartered in Remington, Ind., designs and constructs commercial, industrial, church and agribusiness buildings in Indiana and Illinois. It employs more than 300 architects, engineers, construction professionals and support personnel who provide integrated, single-source design/build services.
